Set in the upper Wye Valley (pictured) and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, this characterful cottage enjoys a convenient location in a riverside village that is a frequent winner of Best Kept Village awards. An ideal base for exploring this glorious area of Wales, just 7 miles from the book town of Hay on Wye's amazing shopping, and a short drive from pretty Brecon's cathedral, leisure centre and theatre, the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells and Rhayader's livestock markets and spectacular daily Red Kite feeding station. Hereford cathedral's chained library and Mappa Mundi are 25 miles and the golden beaches of the Gower are easily within a day trip. A craft centre and pottery (3 miles), farm shops, pony trekking, canoeing and fishing are all nearby. A pub, restaurant and shop are a short walk.

The owner was cheerful and friendly but not intruisive. The cottage was cosy and romantic. It was nicely decorated and clean and tidy. There was plenty for children to do and lots of space. Usually there is something small detail wrong but there wasn't here. The bed was lovely and comfortable. Llsywen was a nice little village. Hay on Wye perfect for books. The Welsh mountains and valleys beautiful. We would recommend this cottage to anyone for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
